Job Summary:

The Medical Biller is responsible for financial tasks such as Billing, Claims Reconciliation, and Data Entry in QuickBooks. This position directly supports the assistant billing manager.

 

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Bills medical insurances as assigned.
  • Reconciliation, payments, and claims
  • Distributes office mail.
  • Research/investigate information , inquiries of claims
  • Calls insurance companies for information
  • Reprocessing claims
  • Makes files from A - Z for clients
  • Ensure office practice is in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Prints claims and payments weekly.
  • Assist payroll department when needed.
  • Other administrative office work
  • Filling, scanning, copying (as needed)
 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Proficient with QuickBooks Accounting Software
  • Computer Proficient and well versed in MS Office and Google Apps
  • Customer Service skills essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly detailed-oriented and organized
  • Capable of multitasking and handling difficult situations
  • Knowledge and implementation of HIPAA
  • Certificate in medical billing from an accredited provider 
Preferred Education or Training Equivalent to:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, or related field, preferred
  • 1 year experience in medical billing, preferred
 

Minimum Years of Additional Related Experience:

  • Medical billing certificate

  • Able to appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Able to obtain criminal record clearance through Department of Justice
  • Able to demonstrate effective time management
  • Applicable knowledge of all computer applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
 

Physical Requirements (Approximate Percent per 7.5-hour Workday):

  • Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation (90%+)
